Our Focus — Facilitating Change that Makes a Real Difference

The Biz School team have relevant backgrounds in people and organisational development, adult learning facilitation, leadership and management consulting, communication skills training and coaching. Using this experience, we support change leaders to be the leaders they need to be and to implement organisational development initiatives that make a real difference and last.

The model below identifies three different kinds of work that we believe are necessary for effective and healthy organisations.

Most efforts at organisational development are ineffective because:

  • They focus on improving systems, structures and strategies but the individuals don’t change, so nothing really changes, OR
  • They work at changing individuals or teams through individual skill development or naïve team building that is not connected to the technical work or the systems, structures and strategies, so nothing really changes.

Effective organisational learning and development must work in a way that keeps each of the three kinds of work linked and integrated. At Biz School, we do this by intentionally weaving three different strands into the way we work, as illustrated in the following diagram:

 

 

Many interventions focus on each different strand separately. Separately the strands have limited impact, woven together, over time, they produce lasting development.
